COMPULSORY INSURANCE

The Thai government requires all motorcycle owners to have Compulsory coverage on their bikes when they register it. The coverage can be purchased from the Land Transportation Office at the time of registration or it can purchased from any insurance company that sells motorcycle insurance. The cost and the coverage are the same no matter where you purchase the insurance. The policy will always be in Thai, but is the police and the Land Transportation that have to read it, not you.

The Coverage:

Like most other forms of vehicle insurance, the cost of Compulsory Insurance (Por Ror Bor) is determined by the engine size.

Your bike does not need to be registered in Thailand  for you to purchase this coverage, since it provides protection for 3rd Parties who might be injured or killed by you.
